You can get ideas for your house construction, your energy supply or recipes for paint that you can basically eat. In short, a place where we want to give you inspiration for a sustainable good life!
By using Permaculture principles, we have designed an area of about 8 hectares, which was originally an old fishing home. The garden part is about 1 hectare large.
Seeding in the greenhouse begins in early February. Tomato plants and early summer flowers that have a long development phase are sown first. The work continues with the retraining to larger pots and the planting in greenhouses and outdoors. Working with plants is the best way to practice your plant knowledge and also improve yourself.
At Kosters Trädgårdar, we grow vegetables in a bed system where we rotate the crops with a 9-year crop rotation. We cover crops with the help of grass clippings and straw to reduce weed spread, preserve soil moisture and for fertilization.
The work with vegetable cultivation involves everything from sowing to harvesting. It is both a tedious job with sowing and weeding and a physical test when it comes to edge digging and autumn seaweed fertilization.
The cultivation beds change from year to year. We like to experiment and be influenced by good ideas.
For a long time now, there has been a small part reserved for "a forest garden" at Kosters Trädgårdar. Imitating the naturally productive forest edge is an interesting way to co-cultivate many species in a small area.
